Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brings Edward Kenway’s Golden Age of Piracy back to a new generation of players. For its collector’s edition, Ubisoft came to TAKEOFF with this hero figurine and asked us to design the content that would complete the package.
The challenge
Designing around a fixed centrepiece means every other element has to earn its place beside it. The box, steelbook and physical extras needed to match the figurine’s quality, feel authentic to the world of Black Flag, and work as a coherent set on shelf and on screen.
Every piece earns its place.
At the centre of the edition sits a highly detailed 31cm Edward Kenway statue, seated at the helm of his ship with the Jackdaw’s tattered Assassin flag flying above him and a chest of treasure at his feet. The figure captures Edward at his most iconic: pistols in hand, boots up, utterly at home on the high seas.
Alongside the statue, we designed a cast metal skull-and-crossbones brooch styled after the Assassin insignia, a cloth world map of the Caribbean charting Edward’s voyages, and a hand-bound, hand-illustrated log-book filled with sketches and in-character writing.
Beyond design, we handled the production files for every item in the edition, ensuring each piece was ready for manufacture.
To support the launch, we also created the retail and e-retailer mockups of the full collector’s edition, giving Ubisoft and its partners a finished view of the product before a single unit was made.
