A one-of-a-kind Rainbow Six esports trophy for Ubisoft - a Thermite bust inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, from concept to final delivery.
Ubisoft tasked us with crafting a unique trophy for the winners of the Six Charlotte Major. L'Atelier managed the entire process - from trophy design to modelling, production and delivery.
The design centered on Thermite, a prominent American unit in Rainbow Six - known for his patience, teamwork and leadership, his rounded goggles and his ability to breach nearly any surface in the game. Our team created a detailed 3D bust of Thermite on a custom stand.
In May 2022, Charlotte, North Carolina hosted the Six Major - a highlight of the global Rainbow Six esports calendar, where 16 elite teams competed for top honors.
Since only a single trophy would be produced, we pushed creative boundaries: a design inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold-dusted lacquer. With Ubisoft's approval, our team developed the concept through design sketches and 3D modelling, before sending the schematics to our Canadian workshop for production.
