Warner Brothers Entertainment not only needed an event that revealed Mortal Kombat 11 to long-standing fans of the series, but also an event that generated serious hype and drove pre-orders from the wider gaming public and online community.
The event
Our team created a colossal immersive experiential reveal event, based in London’s state-of-the-art KOKO venue. Over 150 cast and crew were involved in setting up the event over two days; sets featured giant statues and ice sculptures of key characters in the game complemented by cosplay actors helping manage the event.
Celebrity engagement online created huge social media reach. All announcements were strategically planned to boost ticket sales and build an engaged audience for the live stream. Tickets sold out during the first day, and our team broadcast the event to an online audience of 2 million people with live commentary by Ketchup & Mustard.
63 gaming pods let gamers get hands-on with Mortal Kombat 11. The game was also revealed on-stage with the game’s developers and publishers showcasing the game’s new features, and NetherRealm’s staff performed live signings for fans. The reveal was followed by a Celebrity Vs. Influencer gaming tournament which pitted professional fighters such as Chris Eubank Jr and Florian Munteanu (Creed 2) and celebrities including Mesut Özil and Teddy Riner against well-known influencers Squeezy and Ketchup & Mustard (with participants getting specially-made trophies and medals).
